When we think about our health, we often focus on the physical body—what we eat, how we sleep, our activity level, digestion, hormones, pain, and other physical symptoms. But our emotional experiences, stress, environment, nutrition, and the energy we carry can also play an important role in how we feel.

This is one of the reasons I have incorporated Emotion Code and Body Code into my holistic wellness practice. Over the years, I have seen how physical, emotional, and energetic health are deeply connected, and sometimes supporting the body means looking beyond the physical symptoms we are experiencing.

What Is Emotion Code?

Emotion Code is an energy healing technique developed by Dr. Bradley Nelson that focuses on identifying and releasing what are referred to as “trapped emotions.”

Throughout our lives, we experience many different emotions—grief, fear, anger, sadness, worry, frustration, rejection, overwhelm, and many others. Sometimes we process these experiences and move forward, while other times emotional energy may remain stored within the body.

Using muscle testing, Emotion Code helps identify specific emotions that may be contributing to an energetic imbalance. Sometimes an emotion is connected to something you immediately recognize, while other times you may have no conscious memory associated with it.

One of the things I appreciate about this technique is that the process is gentle and does not require you to relive painful experiences or share every detail of your past. Once the trapped emotion is identified, it can be released energetically, allowing the body to let go of something it may have been holding onto for years.

Clients often describe feeling lighter, calmer, more relaxed, or simply more like themselves after emotional clearing work.

What Is Body Code?

Body Code expands upon Emotion Code and goes much deeper into the physical and energetic imbalances that may be affecting the body.

The Body Code system organizes these imbalances into six main areas: Energies, Circuits and Systems, Toxicity, Pathogens, Misalignments, and Nutrition and Lifestyle.

Within these categories, we can explore many different layers. These may include trapped emotions and other emotional energies; imbalances involving organs and glands, chakras and meridians; structural imbalances and misalignments; nutritional deficiencies; lifestyle factors; and different forms of toxicity.

Body Code can also explore toxins such as chemicals, heavy metals, environmental exposures, and other substances, as well as pathogens including viruses, bacteria, fungi, parasites, and other biological stressors.

Using muscle testing, we can communicate with the subconscious mind and allow the body to guide us toward the imbalances that need attention. Rather than assuming where the problem is coming from, we follow what the body reveals, layer by layer.

Once an imbalance is identified, I use my hand and intention along the governing meridian to help release or correct the energetic imbalance. I prefer using my hand rather than a magnet, which allows the process to flow naturally with the other healing work I incorporate into my sessions.

How Are Emotion Code and Body Code Different?

Emotion Code focuses specifically on identifying and releasing trapped emotional energy.

Body Code takes this work much further by looking at a wider range of physical, emotional, nutritional, structural, and energetic imbalances that may be affecting the body.

I often use the two together. We may begin by identifying an emotional imbalance and then discover that another layer needs attention, or Body Code may guide us toward a completely different area.

This is one of the things I appreciate most about this work. Rather than assuming what the body needs, muscle testing helps guide the process and determine where we focus during the session.

How I Incorporate Emotion Code & Body Code Into My Practice

My approach has always been to look at the whole person rather than focusing on one symptom or one area of the body.

Over the years, I have trained in Foot Zoning, EFT Tapping, energy healing, nutrition, herbs, supplements, and other holistic approaches. I am also completing my graduate training in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine. Adding Emotion Code and Body Code has given me another way to explore the emotional, physical, and energetic layers that may be influencing a person’s overall well-being.

I frequently incorporate Emotion Code into my Foot Zoning sessions because the two approaches complement each other beautifully. While Foot Zoning allows me to work with the body through the feet, Emotion Code gives us an opportunity to explore and clear emotional and energetic patterns at the same time.

Body Code allows me to go even deeper when appropriate by looking beyond trapped emotions and exploring other areas that may need support. Depending on what comes up, I may also incorporate nutrition, herbs, supplements, lifestyle recommendations, EFT Tapping, or other tools from my training and experience.

No two sessions are exactly the same. Some may focus primarily on physical support. Others may involve emotional or energetic clearing, nutrition and lifestyle support, or several approaches woven together. Each session is individualized based on the person in front of me and what their body may need at that time.

Healing Is More Than Physical

Our bodies are incredibly complex. Nutrition matters. Sleep matters. Stress matters. Our environment matters. Physical and energetic balance matter. And our emotional experiences matter too.

For me, holistic wellness means recognizing these connections rather than separating the physical body from our emotional and energetic well-being.

Emotion Code and Body Code have become valuable additions to the work I already do and another way I can support my clients on their individual healing journeys.
